Derailed A Hair Salon

This is the first salon I have visited since moving to the Dayton area. The cut Mindy gave me was very even and grew out nicely. It was a bit too short, but I usually have that problem when getting a new stylist. Most new stylists also get the cut wrong and she was right on the mark. She was very warm and friendly as well, so it was a nice experience all around. As long as the quality of the cut remains constant, I'll keep seeing her!

Pros: Quality cut, friendly, warm neighborhood feel

Cons: parking might be a problem, but there was a lot just down the street.

The owners, Austin and Mindy, are cool folks (visit their website, www.derailedhairsalons, for price lists, specials, some great photos of Austin in colored wigs, and other interesting stuff). The service was wonderful; they worked with me when I had to reschedule, not once, but several times, with no problem. When I finally got there, I had brought a picture from an online makeover-o-matic; when I asked Austin his opinion, he actually stopped, checked out my hair, and thought about it before saying, "Yeah, I think we can make that work." Now, that's special! Reasonable price, well worth it. Don't miss (as if you could) the huge automatic chicken.

I have been going to more expensive salons outside of Dayton for some time. I have never found a stylist I thought was really good. Thank goodness I found Derailed! I love supporting local business, especially the good ones. Mindy and Austin are super sweet. I brought a picture of a style and cut I wanted. Austin talked with me about it and put his own creative edge to my existing ideas. It was perfect. I have finally found a home for my hair!

Pros: Owners, Atmosphere, Quality

WARNING One tof THE worst haircuts of my life.!!! Owner does not underdstand that all all hair is to be cut to the hairs needs and nuances!!!! Not one type cut fits all! I asked for a modern slanted across the eyes cut and he cut it uneven with a big gap!! Not to mentions way too short with layers. It was reallyawful. Horrible horrible place!

Cons: Unable to cut hair to client specifications.. even with a picture!

I have been going to Mindy for years now. I drive about 1/2 hour to see her, but it is so worth it. She always knows exactly what to do with my hair. I get tired of it often, so I just tell her to use her judgement. It looks great everytime. I have a few friends who even drive up from Cincinnati just to get a cut and color! Very worth it!

Pros: Friendly, Cozy atmosphere

Cons: Parking can be hard to find

If you are looking for an updated, sophisticated or edgy, highly noticable and great hair cut & color you don't have to look any further for a salon to meet your needs. I can't recommend Derailed more! Austin has delivered every time! Tell 'um what you want and thats whatcha get. Plus you get to hang out in a cool salon with funky artwork. You can't beat that! The new nail tech is great too! I recommend the Ladies night out package, bring some gilfriends and enjoy some cool services, it's a great time!

Pros: Great prices, excellent customer service, complete service & understanding

Cons: finding a good parking spot in the oregon district

I had a great experience. The owners are professional, yet relaxed. Told Austen what I wanted and then he made some great suggestions and I couldn't have asked for a better haircut. Give this salon your business! $25 for a ladies haircut + tip. It's worth it.

Pros: supports local artists, walk in hours

Derailed is the best salon in the OD and greater Dayton area! Fantastic, nice, talented owners offer the best value for your dollar. Go see them and tell them that Adrienne sent you!
